Position Overview

NHS Lanarkshire is on the lookout for a skilled and proactive pharmacist to enhance our pharmacy aseptic services, which play a vital role in ensuring safe and effective patient care. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with the Lead (Accountable) Pharmacist and the senior pharmacy aseptic team to spearhead, develop, implement, and evaluate aseptic dispensing services. Additionally, the role includes acting as the deputy Accountable Pharmacist within the centralized aseptic unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Pharmacist in overseeing aseptic services.
  • Manage and mentor the aseptic team and broader pharmacy workforce.
  • Engage in the development of a new aseptic preparation unit.
  • Participate in clinical commitments based on experience and interests.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess substantial post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, particularly within clinical or technical specialties, and have extensive knowledge of aseptic services. Essential qualifications include:

  • Master of Pharmacy Degree.
  • Membership with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • At least four years of post-registration hospital clinical pharmacy experience.
  • A minimum of two years working in an aseptic unit.
  • Experience in delivering training and education at a postgraduate level.

Skills and Competencies

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Advanced clinical reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to influence multidisciplinary teams and management.
  • Proficiency in clinical audit to enhance practice.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Contract Details

This is a permanent, part-time position comprising 29.7 hours per week, primarily based within the pharmacy department.
