Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced TB Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our dynamic nurse-led TB team at University Hospitals Dorset. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating and diagnosing TB, LTBI, and NTM diseases, synthesizing results and information from multiple sources to develop highly complex plans of care.

You will prescribe and supervise treatments, risk assess and deliver contact tracing and TB incident management, demonstrating high levels of competence. Additionally, you will support the development of new-entrant TB screening programmes and deliver BCG vaccinations as needed.

Under the supervision of the TB Consultant Nurse, you will manage the TB Service's daily operations, including line-managing junior colleagues, triage, and action referrals, providing nurse-led outpatient and telephone clinics, and performing ward and community outreach and home visits.

Main Responsibilities
  • Investigate and diagnose TB, LTBI, and NTM diseases
  • Prescribe and supervise treatments
  • Risk assess and deliver contact tracing and TB incident management
  • Support the development of new-entrant TB screening programmes
  • Deliver BCG vaccinations as needed
  • Manage the TB Service's daily operations
Requirements
  • Master's level Advanced Clinical Practice or relevant master's degree
  • Non-medical prescriber (evidenced within professional body registration)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Demonstrable experience of working independently at band 7 in a clinical role managing TB/NTM patients
  • Line management/Team leadership experience
  • Primary and secondary care experience
  • Experience in active participation in MDT meetings
