About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Custody Housing Advice Worker. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to rebuild their lives and prevent homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients to retain existing accommodation or to relinquish tenancies to avoid accruing rent arrears and debt.
  • Support clients who will be homeless on release to access appropriate accommodation.
  • Work alongside The Probation Service to achieve set interventions to prevent homelessness.
  • Work as part of a larger team based across 10 prisons and multiple probation offices.
  • Monitor and manage case load through the case monitoring systems.
  • Respond to new referrals in accordance with contractual timeframes.
  • Consider existing risk assessments including engagement with MAPPA when making housing referrals so clients can access safe accommodation that reduces risk and promotes recovery.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A passion in working with ex-offenders and people who are homeless/at risk of becoming homeless.
  • The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team within the prison and probation environment and to maintain effective relationships with external agencies.
  • The ability to work flexibly in a changing and often challenging environment.
  • The ability to work to agreed deadlines and targets.
  • The ability to cope with clients with multiple needs, who may display challenging behavior.
  • The skills to accurately report and record progress of work in a timebound fashion, in line with the contract requirements.
