Key Responsibilities- Negotiate the sale and purchase of vessels on behalf of the company, including newbuilds, second-hand, and recycling transactions.
- Negotiate long-term charter arrangements, including bareboat and in/out agreements.
- Prepare investment cash flow analyses related to potential sales and purchase transactions.
- Review, determine accuracy, and distribute negotiation recaps and letters of intent.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing transactional documentation, including memoranda of agreement, sales and purchase contracts, and supporting corporate documentation.
- Arrange the execution of authorized transactional documentation.
- Liaise with the Treasury and Ship Finance Department to ensure strategic planning and forecasting of all sales and purchase payments.
- Ensure that required arrangements for holding, lodging, and releasing transactional funds are made and confirmed within the required timescales.
- Accurately calculate final balances, including bunkers, oils, and extras, on the purchase and sale of assets.
- Process and authorize payment of contract instalments, purchase prices, commissions, and other payments due or due to be received.
- Report the main terms of transactions to all personnel and principal's representative offices.
- Distribute copies of contracts to relevant department managers.
- Update all relevant departments, offices, and masters on authorized transactional terms within the required timescales.
- Instruct masters, superintendents, and local representatives as necessary.
- Report confirmation of delivery to all personnel, principal's representative offices, and other authorities as necessary.
- 7-10 years of shipping experience in sales and purchase, with a strong understanding of vessel types, shipbuilding, flag states, classification, and commercial variables.
- Ability to draft, review, and negotiate sales and purchase contracts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate and maintain strong relationships with all levels of the business, external legal, commercial, and government entities.
- High level of analytical skills and strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and focus on relevant information.
- Ability to self-motivate and prioritize conflicting demands against short timelines.
- Creative and lateral thinker with the ability to use initiative and be proactive.
- Professionalism and trustworthiness beyond question.
- Ability to take ownership and hold oneself accountable.
- Commitment to helping promote and maintain a safe workplace.
