Group Strategic Analytics operates within the Group Chief Operation Office (COO), serving as a vital link between the Bank's operational divisions and infrastructure functions to achieve efficiency, control, and transformation objectives.

As a member of the Debt Strats team in Group Strategic Analytics, you will contribute to the development of platforms designed to address quantitative challenges faced by Investment Banking trading operations. Your role will be integral to the IRiS Intraday Risk and profit & loss (P&L) application team, which is utilized by a global network of traders, delivering real-time risk and P&L insights for various trading desks including Rates, Credit, and Emerging Markets. The team comprises quantitative business analysts, Java engineers, C# developers, platform engineers, and testers, employing JIRA for project management.

Development is primarily server-side in Java, leveraging Oracle Coherence within a low-latency, high-throughput, multi-threaded, and distributed environment. The platform operates on clusters of Redhat Linux servers and incorporates technologies such as Oracle Coherence, Spring Framework, Hibernate, Oracle Exadata, and messaging systems like Solace and Java Message Service (JMS).

Your key responsibilities:

  • Conducting analysis, design, and development of functionalities within IRiS using Java.
  • Collaborating with Business Analysts, traders, quantitative analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective, reliable solutions.
  • Providing support to the business through a support rota, including troubleshooting queries and issues.
  • Offering technical and business guidance to team members and overseeing project deliveries.

Your skills and experience:

  • A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Experience in developing front-office risk and P&L/pricing applications.
  • Proficiency in server-side Java development, including multi-threading and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of derivatives products, risk management, P&L, market data, and calibration processes.
  • Experience with Credit bond and derivatives trading products.
  • Familiarity with Python and/or C++ is advantageous.
