About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled practitioner to join our CAMHS Intellectual Disability Team as a Lead Practitioner. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.

The CAMHS ID Team works closely with children, young people, and their families to provide highly specialist clinical assessment and treatment. The team is part of the wider CAMH Service and works closely with other teams to ensure the best outcomes for young people and families.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the team and working in partnership with the CAMHS leadership team, Medical Consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest level of clinical practice in assessment, case management, care coordination, and treatment.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs and will be able to work effectively with families and other professionals to provide high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the CAMHS ID Team and work in partnership with the CAMHS leadership team, Medical Consultants, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the highest level of clinical practice in assessment, case management, care coordination, and treatment.
  • Provide highly specialist clinical assessment and treatment to children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Work closely with families and other professionals to provide high-quality care and support.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans that meet the needs of children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Contribute to the development of the CAMHS ID Team and the wider CAMH Service.
Person Specification
  • Relevant professional qualification with current registration.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children and young people with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with families and other professionals to provide high-quality care.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
