Job Summary:

The Disasters Emergency Committee is seeking a highly skilled Marketing Manager - Retention to join our team. As a key member of our marketing department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to retain and acquire new supporters, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our emergency appeals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive direct marketing retention strategy, leveraging past learnings and testing new ideas to maximize future income and improve supporter retention.
    • Design and implement specific audience journeys for segments across the life cycle of a DEC appeal and between appeals, ensuring timely and relevant communications to all direct marketing, community, and legacy audiences.
    • Build an improved supporter journey strategy for new, repeat, and lapsed donors, incorporating audience insights and performance data.
    • Lead the collection of audience insight during appeals, analyzing performance and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Fundraising:
    • Develop and implement donor journeys for individuals and community supporters, monitoring segment development and repeat donor engagement.
    • Provide analysis during and following an appeal, measuring performance against key indicators and developing recommendations for improvement.
    • Support the stewardship of community fundraisers and groups in conjunction with the Supporter Services team.
  • Networking and Building Relationships:
    • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with DEC suppliers, including creative agencies, media agencies, SMS and email suppliers, and the print/mailing house.
    • Collaborate with permanent and temporary staff during appeals to maximize success.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in direct marketing and retention strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to inform marketing decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
