About the Role

As a Prisoner Escort Officer at Serco, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and secure transportation of detainees to and from court proceedings. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and transport detainees from prisons or police stations to court proceedings
  • Ensure the physical and mental wellbeing of detainees during transportation
  • Accompany defendants in court rooms and cells
  • Search property or people as required
  • Ensure food and drink are available for detainees
  • Complete paperwork and data entry for the day
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a current driver's license, C1 License (valid CPC card desirable) / D License (with valid CPC card & Tacho Graph desirable). You must also be reasonably fit and have good written and verbal communication skills. Our roles would suit those who have a particular interest in criminology or psychology.

Our Assessment Process

Our assessment process includes an online assessment, a briefing call to assess eligibility, a competency-based virtual interview, and a short role-play and written exercise. All roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks with Enhanced DBS (Adult & Child Barring) and satisfactory employment references.
