Position Overview
Location: Aberdeen
- Competitive hourly rate of £12.24
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 06:30 - 15:00
- Annual leave entitlement of 20 days
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the operation of loading shovels, forklifts, and tele-handlers throughout the facility, ensuring the efficient loading of various vehicle types, including curtain-sided vehicles, shipping containers, and bulk haulage walking floors.
Your duties will include:
- Supervising and ensuring the safe and effective operation of fixed machinery, such as baling machines.
- Conducting pre-operational safety checks and operator inspections.
- Performing daily maintenance and inspections of mobile and fixed plant equipment.
- Guiding customer vehicles to designated disposal areas and assisting with unloading as necessary.
- Supporting Sampling Operatives in the collection of output samples.
- Maintaining a clean and organized site at all times.
- Assisting Production staff during end-of-shift clean-ups and equipment downtime.
- Contributing to lean initiatives and 5S activities to uphold a tidy and efficient workplace.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure a cost-effective and efficient operation.
- Performing any other reasonable tasks as requested within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
- Ideally, we seek an experienced plant operator with relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent; however, training may be provided for the right candidate.
- A proactive team player is essential, as you will work alongside the current site team to exceed operational standards.
- Flexibility in your approach to work is advantageous, as you may be required to cover for colleagues during absences.
- A commitment to safety and a willingness to embrace change for continuous improvement is vital.
- Previous experience in the waste industry or high-volume production processes is beneficial but not mandatory.
