The Assistant Director for Legal and Governance will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance on all aspects of governance and compliance. The successful candidate will have a strong background in corporate governance, compliance, and risk management. They will be able to provide expert advice and guidance to our Board of Directors, Executive Team, and other stakeholders on governance and compliance matters.

The role will also involve working closely with our Director of Finance and Corporate Services to ensure that our organization is operating in a compliant and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance on governance and compliance matters.
  • Advise the Board of Directors, Executive Team, and other stakeholders on governance and compliance matters.
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance and Corporate Services to ensure compliance and effective operation of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, and external partners.
  • Ensure that our organization is operating in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the organization.
  • Develop and implement effective governance and compliance training programs for staff.
  • Ensure that our organization is transparent and accountable in its governance and compliance practices.
Requirements
  • Strong background in corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide expert advice and guidance on governance and compliance matters.
  • Experience working in a similar role in a large complex organization.
  • Qualification in corporate governance or as Company Secretary (ICSA).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Legal background.
