Job Overview

As a Second Chef with Sodexo at Wavell Combined Mess in Aldershot, you will be responsible for leading a team of culinary professionals in providing exceptional food and beverage services to our armed forces personnel. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in driving the success of our kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the kitchen team in the absence of senior colleagues and provide support for the production team.
  • Direct the preparation and duties of commis chefs, chef de parties, and other kitchen staff.
  • Assist in ordering, prep, stock control, running service, and clean down.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all EHO guidelines and systems.
  • Improve and maximize the use of existing stocks where necessary.
  • Work with the FOH team to drive service excellence.
  • Train, guide, and develop the kitchen team.
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure employees follow standards and regulations.
  • Prepare, produce, and present food to the highest standard.
Requirements
  • NVQ level 2/3 or experience working in a busy kitchen environment.
  • Basic IT skills, with Microsoft packages experience.
  • Experience in menu planning and production.
  • Exposure to bulk cooking.
  • The enthusiasm to develop and learn new skills.
  • A positive and approachable manner.
