Job Description

Job Title: Freight Forwarding Specialist

Job Summary:

Metro is seeking a skilled Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our dedicated Import and Export teams. As a key member of our logistics team, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the movement of goods across international waters, ensuring they reach their destinations safely, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure freight is moved on time with all the necessary documentation
  • Ensure all freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch
  • Communicate clearly, precisely, and accurately with overseas agents and clients to resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner
  • Arrange haulage with shipping lines/hauliers
  • Use customer ERP and SAP systems as and when required
  • Take ownership of your own training and development to continuously improve and develop

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in freight forwarding
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with an understanding of why this matters and the commercial impact this has
  • Excellent usage of computer/operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise – preferable)
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated
