Job Title: Environmental and Social Specialist

Voltalia is seeking an experienced Environmental and Social Specialist to join our UK development team. As an Environmental and Social Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are developed and operated in a responsible and sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) for Voltalia's projects in the UK.
  • Manage environmental and social aspects of Voltalia's activities in the UK, including stakeholder engagement and community relations.
  • Supervise Environmental and Social Consultants (ESCs) carrying out Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Risk Assessments, and other related activities.
  • Develop and implement Environmental and Social Management Plans for Voltalia's projects in the UK.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans during the development, construction, and operation phases of projects.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities, including developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans, handling community feedback, issues, and concerns, and ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution.
  • Work with project managers to identify local supply chains, community leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Work with project managers to identify opportunities and reputational risks, as well as creating and delivering a strategy for handling risks to positively influence stakeholders and achieve sustainable business outcomes.
  • Support engagement with key external stakeholders, including local MP's, local councillors, local parish councils, local community members, and local media for major projects.
  • Support coordination of consultation events and activities, ensuring compliance with relevant planning legislation.
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field or relevant professional qualification.
  • Background in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
  • Strong track record and experience in utility-scale UK ground-mounted solar, wind, or energy storage development.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering energy projects through the consenting regime.
  • Proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
