Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at ZipRecruiter. As a key member of our renewable energy division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the environmental and social sustainability of our projects.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining our Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) in line with international performance standards. This will involve working closely with project managers to ensure that environmental and social risks are identified and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain the ESMS for projects in line with company and international performance standards.
  • Manage environmental and social aspects of activities in the UK, including supervision of E&S consultants carrying out ESIA, RAP, and LRP activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of ESMS during the development, construction, and operation phases of projects.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities, including developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans, handling community feedback, issues, and concerns.
  • Work with project managers to identify local supply chains, community leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Support engagement with key external stakeholders and coordination of consultation events and activities.
Requirements:
  • Positive attitude and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to utilizing participatory approaches and demonstrable ability at report writing and summarizing complex situations.
  • Good understanding and/or knowledge of community cultures, customs, and practices.
  • Ability to have difficult conversations and qualified to postgraduate degree level or relevant professional qualification.
  • Background in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and strong track record and experience in utility-scale UK ground-mounted solar, wind, or energy storage development.
