Principal Data Engineer (GCP)

VIQU IT Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer to join a leading social enterprise in the Northwest region. This is a hybrid role that offers the perfect blend of work-life balance and career growth opportunities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and compliant data processes on Google Cloud Platform. Key responsibilities include data ingestion, quality, modelling, transformation, security, and monitoring. The Principal Data Engineer will also be involved in automation, process improvement, mentoring engineers, setting coding standards, and optimising queries.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Data Engineering roles
  • Deep expertise in SQL and Data Lake/Warehouse solutions
  • Advanced skills in programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java, or Scala
  • Extensive knowledge of query optimisation techniques and a proven track record in refining complex SQL queries
  • Comprehensive understanding of Data Governance principles, including Data Dictionaries, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Lineage, Data Privacy laws, and Personal Identifiable Information (PII) management
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Willingness to undergo DBS Check
