Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Acute Medicine department at North Manchester Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Physician to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing senior medical support to our 53 Medical Assessment Units bed split across 2 wards and our Ambulatory Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing clinical leadership and expertise in Acute Medicine
  • Developing and implementing service improvements to enhance patient care
  • Collaborating with junior trainees, clinical fellows, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Participating in medical education and training programs to support the development of junior staff
  • Contributing to the development of clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB)
  • Full registration with the GMC with a Licence to practice
  • On the Specialist Register, holding CCT or expect to do within 6 months of interview
  • The MRCP or equivalent training and experience
  • Excellent clinical expertise in Acute Medicine and broad knowledge of general medicine
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, the following qualifications and experience would be highly desirable:

  • A higher degree (e.g., MD)
  • Attendance at Advanced communication skills or similar course
  • Experience in leading service change or improvement
