Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Acute Medicine department at North Manchester Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing senior medical support to our 53 Medical Assessment Units bed split across 2 wards and our Ambulatory Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing clinical leadership and expertise in Acute Medicine
  • Developing and implementing service improvements to enhance patient care
  • Collaborating with junior trainees, clinical fellows, and other healthcare professionals to achieve excellent patient outcomes
  • Participating in medical education and training programs to support the development of junior staff
  • Contributing to the development of the acute medical unit and expanding Consultant support to ensure Consultant-delivered care is available 7 days a week
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A primary medical qualification (e.g., MBChB)
  • Full registration with the GMC with a Licence to practice
  • On the Specialist Register, holding CCT or expect to do within 6 months of interview
  • The appointee will hold the MRCP or show evidence of equivalent training and experience
  • Appropriate Home Office status to undertake a career post in the UK
  • Clinical expertise in Acute Medicine and broad knowledge of general medicine
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We welcome applicants with:

  • A higher degree e.g., MD
  • Attendance at Advanced communication skills or similar course
  • Experience in leading service change or improvement
