Job Summary:
Barnet and Southgate College is seeking a qualified Counsellor to join our Student Services team. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver short-term, focused counselling to students, using innovative delivery styles such as online or video-link sessions.
- Work with students and vulnerable adults, providing a safe and supportive environment for them to discuss their concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to promote student wellbeing and academic success.
- Conduct assessments and develop plans to support students in overcoming challenges and achieving their goals.
- Provide guidance and support to students on academic and personal issues, referring them to relevant resources and services as needed.
Requirements:
- Relevant counselling qualification, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
- Excellent IT and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
- GCSEs at grades A-C in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
