Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Computational Scientist to create software solutions for phylogenomic studies utilizing nanopore amplicon data.

Role Responsibilities

Your primary duties will include:
  • Driving the development of the Ampliseq initiative for phylogenomic studies using nanopore amplicon data.
  • Leading the creation of a software pipeline for phylogenomic analysis, employing innovative algorithms or machine learning techniques.
  • Ensuring that the software tools align with both current production needs and future applications.
  • Evaluating the quality of the Ampliseq pipeline and providing constructive feedback to support the in-house research team.
  • Conducting de novo assemblies from various data types to facilitate genome analysis.
  • Documenting procedures and offering guidance and training, especially to users with limited bioinformatics experience.
  • Publishing peer-reviewed research in scientific journals and presenting findings at national and international conferences.
  • Investigating new applications in Genome Informatics, including testing novel data types and software tools.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background as a computational scientist, with proficiency in C/C++ or Python programming. Experience in AI/Machine Learning is a plus.

Essential Qualifications:
  • A PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related computational field.
  • Expertise in programming within Unix/Linux environments using C/C++ or Python.
  • Experience with large-scale scientific computations and simulations.
  • Proficiency in numerical algorithm design.
