Assistant Accountant Job Description

Orka Financial is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, processing financial transactions, and providing financial information to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process month-end journals, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring up-to-date and accurate records.
  • Oversee the maintenance of sales and purchase ledgers, working closely with the Accounts Assistant.
  • Reconcile online sales via third-party providers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with cash flow reviews, ensuring effective cash management and reserve protection.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with departments to provide financial information, supporting business decision-making.
  • Review and maintain purchase orders, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Support the budget-setting process, providing financial expertise and guidance.
  • Continuously review and improve financial processes, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Ensure financial controls are maintained, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Act as a key point of contact for finance and accounting matters, providing expert advice and support.
  • Cover for the Accounts Assistant during leave, ensuring seamless continuity.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analytical reports and projects, providing valuable insights and recommendations.

A salary of £30,000-£35,000 is on offer, plus benefits, for the successful candidate.
