ROLE SUMMARY

NP Aerospace is in search of a knowledgeable Export Compliance Lead to guarantee adherence to all pertinent import and export regulations affecting our operations. This encompasses compliance with US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and UK Export Regulations.

In this capacity, you will oversee and manage import and export obligations within our daily functions. Key responsibilities include offering strategic guidance to facilitate business planning, preparing and processing applications, expediting approvals, maintaining precise records, and tracking compliance timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop, implement, manage, and enhance policies and procedures related to import/export compliance and ITAR, ensuring business adherence where applicable.
  2. Provide training to ensure that key personnel are fully informed of their responsibilities regarding import and export controls, including ITAR.
  3. Timely preparation, processing, and acceleration of licensing applications while maintaining accurate records related to their use.
  4. Manage agreements related to imports and exports such as TAA's, PEA's, Declarations, and Retransfers, ensuring they are accurate and current.
  5. Ensure business compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  6. Identify and inform the business of any changes to legislation or government policy that may affect our operations.
  7. Support and advise the Business Development, R&D, and Commercial teams, including but not limited to; movement of demonstration stock for trade shows and exhibitions, F1686, F680, PV Grading, and Exhibition Clearance applications.
  8. Prepare accurate and compliant import/export documentation, customs documents, and maintain comprehensive records for audit and future reference.
  9. Assist in conducting Due Diligence/Sanction Screening on all End-Users, Export Customers, and Third Parties.
  10. Coordinate with nominated freight forwarder(s) to manage all necessary movements for the business.
  11. Engage with internal and external customers/agencies to ensure trade compliance and facilitate business objectives effectively and efficiently.
  12. Determine the HMRC tariff and customs procedure codes for imports and exports as required.
  13. Classify goods, software, and technology for export purposes.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Experience in the defense industry.
  • Prior experience in export compliance roles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of core regulations.
  • Experience with ITAR & EAR rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with UK export controls.
  • Knowledge of the SPIRE, CHIEF, and LITE systems.
  • Understanding of business agreements/contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and numeracy skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • A methodical mindset with a keen attention to detail.
  • Able to analyze complex business situations and advise on the implications of export controls.
  • Capable of making clear, rational decisions under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
