About the Role
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Perioperative Care Support Worker to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide essential support to registered and qualified staff/patients during the perioperative journey.
Main Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients with varying needs, including those with language difficulties or deafness.
- Provide reassurance and support to patients, referring any essential information or concerns to registered professionals.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to perform delegated duties, ensuring a safe and efficient service.
- Participate in patient safety initiatives, such as briefs, time-outs, and debriefs.
- Ensure continuity of care by passing information to other healthcare staff.
- Undertake induction and competency-based programs to perform delegated supervised duties.
- Complete statutory and mandatory training.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Work within delegated duties under the supervision of registered staff, following schedules of work.
- Alert registered staff to any missing or incomplete documentation or relevant patient safety information.
- Identify and report any deviations from baseline basic physiological monitoring of patients.
- Report faulty equipment and alert hazards to registered staff.
- Initiate basic resuscitation after sending for help.

Requirements
- Vocational qualification Level 2 or above.
- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures.
- Essential experience in the health or social care sector or delivering care.
- Desirable experience in the NHS Theatre/Wards/Critical Care.
- Awareness of health and safety.
- Ability to follow policies and procedures.
- Working within a team.
- Ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
- Knowledge of the NHS Wales values.
- Integrating improvement into everyday working.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Ability to work shifts/nights/out of hours cover.
- Able to travel to other hospitals in a timely manner if required.
