Job Summary

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Practitioner to join our Ophthalmology Research delivery team.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will lead in all aspects of Ophthalmic Imaging and provide specialist research and clinical care to research participants. This includes identifying and approaching eligible patients, consenting patients, and supporting the delivery of study interventions and clinical investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate delegated research studies
  • Develop and implement new research protocols
  • Collaborate with the clinical MDT to lead the way to improved care and treatments
  • Work towards achieving the relevant competencies and experience to be eligible to apply for accreditation as a clinical research practitioner with the Academy of Health Care Science

Requirements
  • Significant patient-facing experience caring for a range of patients, ideally in the acute setting
  • Education to Foundation degree level or NVQ Level 6 in a Physiological or Physical Sciences, Healthcare Science or related field
  • Extensive experience as a Research Imaging Technician
  • Ability to understand and implement new information and work to international standards of clinical research governance
