About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Support Coach to join our team at The Big Life Group. As a Peer Support Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing common mental health conditions, using your own life experience of mental distress and recovery as a template.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of peer coaching one-to-one and group interventions to support individuals in achieving their recovery goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the service from a range of partner organisations to deliver holistic support.
  • Establish trusting and supportive relationships with service users, assisting them to overcome fears and barriers to improving their mental health.
  • Model a Personal Recovery approach to mental health, demonstrating personal responsibility, self-care, and hopefulness for the future.
  • Assist service users to access a range of other services and community activities to support their mental wellbeing.
  • Collate and analyse performance data as necessary.
  • Develop effective relationships with external organisations and agencies.
  • Promote the service and the peer support approach to communities and agencies as appropriate.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of service users.
Requirements
  • Ability to integrate training into practice.
  • High level of self-awareness and ability to reflect on own practice.
  • Ability to assist service users to define and achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Ability to use a database to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to manage a varied and complex workload effectively.
  • Experience of working with people facing a range of barriers and social issues.
  • Experience of working with individuals and groups in different settings to help them achieve their goals.
  • Experience of working with a range of agencies and organisations to develop effective working relationships.
  • Experience of paid or unpaid work in the area of mental health or wellbeing.
