CNC Milling Machinist Opportunity at Smiths Engineering

We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our team at Smiths Engineering. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating 3 & 5 Axis CNC milling machining centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce high-quality parts
  • Prove out programs to ensure smooth running of production batches
  • Work with technical drawings to understand production requirements
  • Inspect and finish machined parts to meet quality standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve production goals

Requirements:

  • Time served or Level 3 engineering qualification
  • Experience in CNC machining and setting
  • Competency in finishing and inspecting machined parts
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Working knowledge of Heidenhain or Siemens controls

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with Vericut
  • CNC programming experience
  • Experience with Mastercam or similar CAM software

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday (8:30am - 5:00pm) and Friday (8:30am - 4:00pm). Ability to work 12-hour shifts after training period.
