Wolverhampton, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated professional with expertise in autism evaluation to become a part of our dynamic multi-disciplinary autism assessment team. We value the diverse perspectives that various disciplines contribute to our team and are eager to welcome an individual who is committed to neurodiversity and guiding young individuals and their families through the assessment process.

The Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) pathway is currently in its formative stages, and we seek to recruit someone who possesses both experience and confidence in conducting assessments and implementing strategies to address health disparities. The successful candidate will assist the Neuro Constellation Lead and ASC Team Lead in various aspects of ASC assessment, initiatives aimed at reducing waiting times, risk management, and providing consistent team supervision. Additionally, they will take charge of complex assessments, particularly in cases with multiple alternative formulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality service provision of specialized care to children, young people, and their families throughout their assessment journey.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage risks for individual clients, offering expert advice to other professionals regarding risk assessment and management.
  • Develop plans for specialized assessment and/or management of clients' varied presentations.
  • Co-lead the advancement of the ASC pathway, evaluating the effectiveness of implemented initiatives.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and support to other staff involved in clients' diagnosis, formulation, and intervention planning.

About Our Organization

The ASC Pathway operates as a multi-agency initiative, incorporating contributions from Speech and Language Therapy, Pediatricians, and Inclusion Support. We employ a Key Worker model, where each young person is assigned a dedicated worker responsible for gathering pertinent information. Key workers on the ASC Pathway will engage with additional diverse professionals and services, including Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, Social Care, and Educational Institutions.

Our team appreciates the contributions of various professionals and strives to provide families with a thorough and holistic assessment experience.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the guidelines established by relevant professional bodies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Engage in service development and ensure compliance with trust policies.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and disciplines to deliver a comprehensive service for neurodivergent children and adolescents, including advocacy and appropriate signposting.
  • Provide necessary support and supervision.
  • Uphold the highest standards of care in accordance with clinical governance.
  • Exhibit exemplary professional practice, serving as a role model and providing clinical supervision as agreed, in line with trust policies and standards.
  • Assess care needs and evaluate care programs.
  • Formulate, implement, and assess person-centered care plans in accordance with trust policies and standards.
  • Conduct specialized, comprehensive autism assessments.

Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in assessing complex presentations.
  • Understanding of alternative formulations.
  • Awareness of health inequalities and reasonable adjustments.

Desirable

  • Experience with the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).
