Control Systems Technician

Location: West Midlands (UK & International Travel)

Compensation: Experience Dependent + Company Vehicle

Omega Resource Group is a leading provider in the integration of automated solutions across various industries, including FMCG, Automotive, and Marine. We are currently looking for a Control Systems Technician to manage on-site service and commissioning of comprehensive Electrical Control Systems, which encompass PLCs, AC/DC drives, general control gear, and SCADA systems.

Key Responsibilities – Control Systems Technician

  • Provide reactive site support for customer automation control applications, including PLCs, VSDs, Robots, networks, and SCADA systems.
  • Participate in 24/7 reactive callout support (on a rostered basis).
  • Utilize a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Conduct workshop testing of engineered automation Control Systems.
  • Investigate and repair components, including PLCs, VSDs, Robots, networks, and SCADA systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and PLC software listings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site logs and timesheets.
  • Mark-up project schematics and documentation accurately.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tailored training courses to meet customer needs.
  • Support and train colleagues as needed.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on-site for commissioning and servicing of engineered automation Control Systems.
  • Provide technical support, site audits, and quotations to the sales team.

Qualifications & Experience – Control Systems Technician

  • Experience with variable speed drives from manufacturers such as Siemens, ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, CT, and Servo drives.
  • Familiarity with PLCs from Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron.
  • Robot experience is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and commissioning engineers regarding issues, progress, and objectives.
  • Capable of engaging with other on-site personnel.
