We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and innovative individual to join our team in Northeast Scotland. This role is essential in fostering connections between communities and nature, as well as promoting active participation in conservation efforts through a funded initiative.

Role Overview:
Your responsibilities will include sharing conservation narratives, establishing robust relationships with local communities, educational institutions, community organizations, youth groups, and businesses through both in-person and virtual engagements. This will involve organizing, participating in, and leading events; creating and co-developing educational programs; and delivering informative talks and guided walks.

Particular emphasis will be placed on collaborating with local high schools to inspire and facilitate outdoor learning experiences across various locations.

A significant outcome of this role will be the development and leadership of a Rural Skills (Environmental Conservation) Modern Apprenticeship program aimed at local youth aged 16-19, equipping them with the necessary skills and experiences for a career in nature conservation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Community Engagement Officer to design and implement activities for children and young people that enhance awareness and understanding of priority habitats and species, fostering community involvement.
- Build and manage a volunteer team to meet established objectives and ensure a rewarding volunteering experience.
- Cultivate partnerships to support regional projects.
- Monitor and assess community outcomes, providing progress reports and recommending adjustments as needed to meet objectives and fulfill commitments to funders.
- Ensure all activities align with organizational branding guidelines to maintain a consistent reputation.
- Adhere to Health and Safety regulations to fulfill legal and policy obligations.

Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Northeast Scotland's wildlife, habitats, and key species to effectively lead public engagement activities.
- Familiarity with both formal and informal education sectors.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding protocols to ensure compliance with Child Health and Safety regulations for all activities involving staff and volunteers.
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management.
- Confidence in planning, facilitating, and delivering programs.
- Exceptional communication skills suitable for diverse age groups, from early years to families.
- Experience in partnership collaboration.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Desirable Skills:
- Teaching qualifications.
- Familiarity with the Curriculum for Excellence.
- Experience in project planning and execution.
- Background in training staff and volunteers.
- Previous experience in teaching or community engagement.
- Understanding of the co-design process.

While expertise in conservation is not a prerequisite, the ability to connect with and motivate young individuals, coupled with a genuine enthusiasm for the role, is essential.

Commitment to Diversity:
We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment within our organization, where every individual feels valued and empowered. We encourage applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly those currently underrepresented in the environmental and conservation sectors.

This position requires the completion of a PVG in addition to standard pre-employment checks.
