The ideal applicant will possess a robust mechanical skill set, outstanding problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and systems to detect and resolve potential issues proactively.
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules to ensure peak performance and minimize downtime.
- Keep precise records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Equipment Repairs:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Identify defective components and implement effective solutions to rectify issues promptly.
- Carry out repairs efficiently to limit operational disruptions.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond swiftly to equipment failures, ensuring minimal operational downtime.
- Be available for on-call duties as necessary to tackle urgent maintenance concerns outside standard working hours.
- Analyze the causes of breakdowns and apply effective solutions to restore equipment functionality.
- Health and Safety:
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies to foster a safe working environment.
- Recognize potential safety risks and take appropriate actions to mitigate them.
- Encourage a culture of safety and compliance within the maintenance team.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify areas for process and equipment enhancements to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
- Engage in the development and implementation of new maintenance protocols and procedures.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory management.
- Generate reports on equipment conditions, maintenance activities, and any encountered issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer or in a similar capacity, ideally within a manufacturing or logistics setting.
- Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and as part of a team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility to work a 37-hour week across 7 days.
- Availability for overtime, compensated at 1.5 times the standard hourly rate.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
- Experience with conveyor systems, packaging machinery, and other industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with PLC systems and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
Working Hours:
- 37 hours per week across 7 working days.
Overtime:
- Overtime will be compensated at 1.5 times the standard hourly rate.
