We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant at Polaris Community. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of our pupils.
Key Responsibilities- Mentorship and Support: Provide dedicated support to one pupil or a small group of up to five pupils, fostering positive relationships and driving interaction and learning outcomes.
- Classroom Support: Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment.
- Progress Reporting: Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other staff members to ensure their needs are met.
- Supervision and Activities: Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
- Lesson Planning and Preparation: Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work where appropriate and marking.
- Education and Experience: Hold a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Previous Experience: Have previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Specialist Knowledge: Possess some previous experience of working with pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within an educational setting.
- Leadership and Behaviour Management: Be experienced and confident enough to lead on a specialism, such as Reading, Mathematics, or Forest School, and have experience of behaviour management techniques.
- Professional Development: Be committed to professional development and willing to learn.
- DBS Check: Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
