Teaching Assistant EYFS Job Summary

Purpose of the Job
  • To provide high-level support to teachers in the management of pupils' learning.
Main Duties
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
  • Assist with planning, tuition, and assessment of pupils in all areas of the curriculum.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of SEND support plans and personal care programmes.
  • Deliver and evaluate programmes of work that meet teaching and learning objectives.
  • Liaise with parents and carers under the direction of the teacher and to maintain a good relationship with staff and pupils.
  • Liaise with the class teacher and other colleagues.
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including toileting, health, hygiene, dressing, intimate care, first-aid, and welfare matters.
  • Work with individuals or small groups of pupils in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning, and inclusion of all pupils.
  • Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task.
  • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks requested by the Headteacher or teachers.
Other Duties
  • Help with the preparation of classrooms, displays, and preparing materials in advance and to clear away after activities.
  • Assist in stock and equipment management and carry out photocopying and other general office duties as required.
  • Accompany teachers and pupils on out-of-school activities and take responsibility for a group, under the direction of a teacher.
  • Administer routine assessments and tests.
  • Prepare and clear up learning environment and resources, including photocopying, filing, and the display and presentation of pupils' work and contribute to maintaining a safe environment.
  • To monitor central/shared resource areas to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
  • Share in Playground duties.
