About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Nurse to join our team as a Nurse in Charge on Hascombe Ward at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care to children of all ages and their families, with a wide range of medical and surgical needs. They will work closely with the paediatric ED department, SCBU, and children's out-patient department to provide seamless care.

The ideal candidate will have experience at Band 5 or above within a general paediatric setting, with current employment in an acute NHS setting. They will demonstrate up-to-date clinical credibility and competence, with evidence of advanced skills in practice, such as IV additives, blood gases, and central lines.

The successful candidate will also have knowledge and understanding of current issues in acute NHS settings, including clinical governance, complaints handling, and clinical risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality patient care to children of all ages and their families
  • Work closely with the paediatric ED department, SCBU, and children's out-patient department
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Supervise and support a team of paediatric nurses
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Participate in clinical audit and research
Person Specification
  • Registered Paediatric Nurse Part 8 or 15
  • Demonstrates professional updating of knowledge in past one/two years
  • European Paediatric Life Support Course (EPLS) or similar
