About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Scientist to join our Personalization team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing machine learning models that scale to large quantities of data, serving high-scale low-latency recommendations to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop machine learning algorithms for high-scale recommendations problems.
  • Rapidly design, prototype, and test hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, leveraging both quantitative analysis and business judgment.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate successful experimental results into large-scale, complex Amazon production systems.
  • Report results in a statistically rigorous and compellingly relevant manner, exemplifying good scientific practice in a business environment.
Requirements
  • PhD or Master's degree in CS, CE, ML, or related field.
  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing, or building machine learning models for business applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Unix/Linux.
  • Professional software development experience.
