Autonomy Software Dependability Engineer

Unlock the Power of Personalization
We're seeking a talented Machine Learning Scientist to join our Edinburgh office, specializing in generative AI and large models. As a key member of our Personalization team, you'll design and develop machine learning models that scale to massive datasets, serving high-performance recommendations to customers worldwide. Your expertise will drive scientific rigor, experimenting with novel methods to demonstrate technical efficacy and business value. Collaborate with our science team to enhance customer satisfaction through relevant recommendations, solidifying Amazon's position as a global leader in machine learning and personalization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop machine learning algorithms for high-scale recommendation problems.
• Rapidly design, prototype, and test hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment, leveraging quantitative analysis and business judgment.
• Work with software engineers to integrate successful experimental results into large-scale, complex Amazon production systems, handling 100,000s of transactions per second at low latency.
• Report results with statistical rigor and compelling relevance, exemplifying good scientific practice in a business environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• PhD or Master's degree in CS, CE, ML, or related field.
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience in areas such as algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.
• Experience building machine learning models for business applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with Unix/Linux.
• Professional software development experience.
