Ecologist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Wardell Armstrong International Ltd. Our Ecologists work closely with various environmental disciplines to deliver high-quality projects across the UK.

This exciting role will involve:

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leading and undertaking ecological field surveys and analyzing survey results.
  2. Producing preliminary ecological appraisals, survey reports, licence applications, and Ecological Impact Assessments.
  3. Managing projects, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, risk management, quality assurance, and client feedback.
  4. Developing emerging workstreams such as Biodiversity Net Gain.

As a successful candidate, you will:

Requirements
  1. Hold a degree in ecology or a related discipline.
  2. Have protected species survey licences and experience in protected species mitigation licensing.
  3. Have a thorough understanding of habitat survey and protected species survey.
  4. Be comfortable writing Ecological Impact Assessment reports and understanding CIEEM methodology.
  5. Have competent GIS skills, a full understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessment, and use of typical metric calculators.
  6. Have experience in managing ecology projects to completion.
  7. Have excellent report writing skills.
