Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing Credit Applications
    • Review and evaluate consumer credit applications to determine creditworthiness
    • Make informed decisions whether to lend, taking into account credit reference checks and other relevant factors
  • Leading and Managing a Team
    • Lead and manage a team of underwriters to ensure that all lending decisions are made in accordance with company policies
    • Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure that they are equipped to make informed lending decisions
  • Identifying and Mitigating Risk
    • Identify potential fraudulent applications and take appropriate action to investigate and mitigate risk
    • Work with other departments to ensure that all lending decisions are made in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring Compliance
    • Ensure that all lending decisions are made in accordance with company policies and procedures
    • Monitor and report on lending activity to ensure that all decisions are made in accordance with company guidelines

Requirements

  • Experience
    • Minimum 2 years' experience in underwriting or a related field
  • Skills
    • Strong understanding of lending policies and procedures
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
