Position: Early Years Manager
Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday – Friday. (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 hours per week)
Salary: £718.65 per week, dependent on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size.
Reporting to: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office.
Barracudas is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all staff to uphold this commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and oversee induction training and the preparation days prior to camp.
- Complete necessary documentation and manage high-risk activities in line with Barracudas Activity Codes of Practice.
- Uphold Health and Safety regulations to maintain a secure environment.
- Ensure the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage by organizing Explore and Play sessions.
- Act as the Designated Person (DP) for Safeguarding, addressing Child Protection and safeguarding matters.
- Maintain regular communication with Area Managers and Central Office.
- Conduct observations and engage in high-risk activities with Early Years staff while building rapport with the children.
- Verify staff comprehension of safeguarding protocols.
- Serve as the primary contact for OFSTED Inspectors on camp.
- Liaise with parents, manage administrative tasks, and oversee Early Years staff.
- Ensure that the site and Baserooms are organized and that all equipment is stored properly.
- Evaluate and review staff performance for end-of-season assessments.
- Provide support to staff during sessions as needed.
Requirements:
- Attendance at mandatory Senior Training events.
- Qualified in Early Years (e.g., Primary qualified, CACHE L3, Primary PGCE, BA Primary Education).
- Experience in Early Years within a childcare environment.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
- Participate in and deliver Induction Training Day(s).
- Complete annual Online Training.
- Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up process.
- Aim for a minimum of half of the senior staff to be Paediatric First Aid trained, depending on camp size.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Health and Safety obligations by following established procedures and safe systems.
- Be proactive and vigilant regarding safety issues.
- Prepare for Induction training using relevant manuals.
- Conduct staff evaluations for each team member at the conclusion of their contract.
- Report Child Protection concerns to a Designated Person at Central Office.
- Ensure staff are informed of any children with additional, medical, or dietary needs.
- Administer necessary medication correctly, following EI forms and complete appropriate documentation.
- Bring swimwear daily as it may be required for swimming sessions.
