Job Summary
This role is part of the Wiltshire Project, a pioneering initiative that provides individual and family support to domestic abuse victims and their children.
As a Specialist Children's and Young Person Advisor, you will work with children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse, delivering timely and high-quality, trauma-informed support.
This is a fixed-term position that requires a deep understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse and its impact on children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, specialist support to children who have lived in domestically abusive families.
- Enable young people to access statutory and other services where appropriate.
- Manage a caseload and work proactively to support young people and their families.
- Deliver educational, time-bound, 1-to-1 support sessions for children and young people.
- Provide specialist support to child victims, focusing on empowering young people to make informed decisions.
- Ensure that children and young people have a thorough understanding of what constitutes a 'healthy relationship.'
- Undertake risk assessments and implement robust safety management plans.
- Give practical and emotional support to children affected by domestic abuse.
- Work closely with multi-agency partners and the wider Fear Free team to ensure a focus on risk management and safeguarding.
- Contribute to the development of early intervention resources.
- Engage with and support the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) process to ensure the voice of victims is heard.
Requirements
This role requires a strong understanding of domestic abuse, its impact on children and young people, and the ability to work in a trauma-informed way.
You will be working in a hybrid fashion, both at home and in the office, and will be required to travel across Wiltshire.
