About the Role

The Welfare Officer is a key member of the Peterhouse community, responsible for providing pastoral support to all members of the College. This includes Senior Members, Junior Members, and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage actively with the College community at all levels, supporting College events and interacting with members in a pastoral capacity.
  • Oversee and coordinate non-medical welfare-related activities offered by the College, including advising students on available resources and directing them to specialist provision.
  • Provide confidential conversations and consultations to students, staff, and Senior Members, making referrals as necessary to the College Nurse and Mental Health Adviser.

Requirements

  • High level of emotional intelligence and empathy to gain trust and respect of students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work with and relate to a wide cross-section of people, handling complex pastoral situations and respecting confidentiality.
  • Previous pastoral experience in a formal or informal context, with experience of living and working within a collegiate university.
