Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced operational leader to join Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and contribute to the delivery of exceptional care to the community. As Chief Operating Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of operational excellence and leading the continuous improvement of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy: Work with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board to develop the Trust's strategic direction and bring an operational perspective to the provision of healthcare, teaching, and research.
  • Financial Management: Collaborate with the Chief Finance Officer to ensure a robust process for agreeing, monitoring, and delivering financial targets.
  • Corporate and Clinical Governance: Strengthen the Trust's governance culture and foster a spirit of learning and innovation in all aspects of the Trust's work.
  • Emergency Planning, Resilience, and Response: Ensure the Trust complies with legal and policy requirements.
  • System Leadership: Act as Lead Chief Operating Officer on behalf of the Black Country ICS and/or Black Country Provider Collaborative for defined programs of work.
Person Specification
  • Qualifications: Masters Level qualification in a relevant subject area or equivalent experience.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Demonstrable record of continuous professional development.
  • Key Competencies: Well-developed communication and influencing skills, ability to lead and work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • NHS Leadership Competency: Skills and knowledge to drive high-quality and sustainable outcomes, set strategy, and deliver long-term transformation.
