Countrystyle Recycling is seeking a highly skilled Traffic Management Operative to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and personnel within our site.
Key Responsibilities- Reversing Operations: Ensure that all reversing operations are conducted in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Accident Prevention: Identify and implement measures to reduce the number and cost of accidents caused by reversing vehicles.
- Reversing Minimization: Minimize the amount of reversing required and be aware of the dangers associated with reversing operations.
- Driver Assistance: Use practical techniques and hand signals to assist drivers in all manoeuvres.
- Signaling and Visibility: Use a clear, agreed system of signalling and be visible to drivers at all times.
- Safe Positioning: Stand in a safe position from which to guide all vehicles without being in the way.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Wear high-visibility clothing and ensure that any signals are clearly seen.
- Communication: Have clear and effective use of the 2-way radio and communicate effectively with drivers and other personnel.
- Incident Reporting: Report to the Operations Manager and Shift Supervisors on any near-miss incidents involving vehicle movements in the yard.
- Compliance: Comply with all Health, Safety, HR, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Site Management: Ensure that all personnel are complying with all site PPE requirements and that drivers do not leave their vehicles unattended within an undesignated parking area.
- Pedestrian Safety: Ensure that pedestrian routes are adhered to and that people do not cross the yard as a shortcut.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Traffic Management Operative who possesses the following qualities:
- Safety and Environmental Awareness: Shows a strong understanding of safety and environmental awareness throughout the industry and site permits.
- Problem-Solving: Identifies areas for continual improvement and finds ways to resolve issues.
- Knowledge of Goods Vehicles: Has strong knowledge of goods vehicles and their operation.
- Interpersonal Skills: Possesses strong interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Industry Knowledge: Has knowledge of the waste and recycling industries.
- Plant and Machinery: Has a good working knowledge and experience of associated plant and machinery.
- Team Player: Is willing to take on additional workload to help other team members while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Weighbridge Experience: Has experience of operating a weighbridge.
- Banksman Trained: Is Banksman trained.
