Job Overview

This position offers a specialised and confidential administrative support service within the medical education sector. As part of a dedicated team of four administrators, the successful candidate will oversee specific components of the medical student programme. Responsibilities will include coordination of examinations and support for various educational blocks. Each administrator will manage their designated area under the guidance of the consultant lead responsible for the specialty, which encompasses Core Clinical Education, Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and more. Team collaboration is essential, especially during periods of absence.

The team is committed to delivering a comprehensive training programme for medical students as they rotate through various healthcare facilities. Additionally, the post holders will collaborate closely with other administrative personnel within the Medical Education department to ensure smooth operations in accordance with departmental and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for designated aspects of the medical school clinical placement activities, including: Organising Bedside Teaching sessions Collaborating with Consultant Block Leads to develop timetables for various educational phases Managing examinations across all years Coordinating revision blocks, electives, and projects Supporting assistantships as students transition to junior doctors Taking ownership of specific timetable segments and ensuring standards are upheld Addressing student inquiries regarding timetables and access to facilities Demonstrating flexibility and teamwork within the medical education administration team.

Additional Responsibilities

Serve as a primary contact for relevant activities, ensuring effective management of inquiries and timely resolutions. Attend meetings across various venues as necessary for planning and provision of the medical school programme. Work outside of standard hours during examination periods as required. Collaborate with the medical school administration team to provide a seamless service to all visitors. Maintain accurate and organised documentation to support decision-making processes. Contribute to service improvement initiatives through project work and data reporting. Implement and uphold efficient office management systems to optimise departmental operations. Support team members through training and development, ensuring high standards of practice are maintained.
