Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (subject to experience)

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Manager to join our team at NP Aerospace for a 12-month period to cover a maternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive pre and post-contract support and guidance, focusing primarily on the UK market with limited involvement in export markets.

The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in a commercial/contract management role, preferably in a defence or highly regulated environment. They will be able to evaluate, draft, negotiate, close, and manage the legal, commercial, and contractual aspects of complex contracts.

The Commercial Manager will oversee a wide range of commercial responsibilities, including managing a small commercial team, providing day-to-day commercial and/or contract management on major defence contracts, and supporting the sales team in developing commercial input into bids and proposals.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, able to build effective relationships and communicate efficiently at all levels. They will have a keen attention to detail, a reasoning mind, and a thorough and methodical approach to tasks.

This is a hybrid role, with the majority of the time spent on-site, with home working available when suitable and with manager approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small commercial team and assist with departmental metrics/reporting, training, and weekly review of commercial actions.
  • Provide day-to-day commercial and/or contract management on major defence contracts.
  • Support the full project lifecycle, including request for information/pre-qualification questionnaires, tendering process, contract award, contract change, contract performance, and contract closure.
  • Support the sales team in developing commercial input into bids and proposals.
  • Responsible for commercial negotiations and closure of contracts between NPA, its customers, and/or key subcontractors.
  • Report on commercial opportunities and risks and develop commercial strategies to address such opportunities and risks.
  • Attend customer/subcontractor meetings to represent the commercial department.
  • Provide guidance on commercial/legal issues and advise the wider business on internal commercial governance.
  • Support the sales team in all commercial aspects relating to its 'Representatives' network.

Requirements:

  • Considerable experience in a commercial/contract management role, preferably in a defence or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience in evaluating, drafting, negotiating, closing, and managing the legal, commercial, and contractual aspects of complex contracts.
