About the Project

Bechtel Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Piping Materials Engineer to join their team as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) for a major Indian corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing PMC Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade/expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with project specifications, procedures, and quality requirements by reviewing the work of Contractors.
  2. Develop and maintain Piping Material Classes using Smartplant Reference Data (SRD).
  3. Undertake and check related piping calculations, including wall thickness, branch reinforcement, vacuum, line blank thickness, etc.
  4. Plan, coordinate, and prepare requisitions, including Technical Bid Evaluations for all bulk piping components.
  5. Review vendor documents for all piping purchase orders.
  6. Develop technical, design, and purchasing specifications for all bulk piping components.
  7. Develop specialty piping items as required.
  8. Review Technical Queries and Deviation Requests, and work with Client and other disciplines to develop response.
  9. Coordinate piping materials technical detail for several Contractors.
  10. Review MSDs, P&IDs, and inter-discipline coordination as required.
Requirements
  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Chartered Engineer, or suitable equivalent.
  2. Extensive experience and technical expertise in piping materials and valves.
  3. Experience of piping material requirements specific to petrochemical and polymer plants and application of non-metallic materials.
  4. Understanding of the application of Company procedures and design guides.
  5. Broad knowledge of the role of piping materials in procurement, delivery, fabrication, and constructability.
  6. Detailed knowledge of Piping Material Specification software SmartPlant Reference Data (SRD).
  7. Specific knowledge of ASME B31.3 design and materials is essential.
  8. Understanding of industry or local regulatory codes and standards including ASME, BIS, API, AWWA, ASTM, and MSS.
  9. Experience of working in a PMC role is preferred.

If you prefer rotation:

  • Our single status rotational schedule is an option for you. This means that you would mobilise and spend 10 weeks working in-country and then you would go home to the UK for 2 weeks and so on for the project duration.
