We are seeking a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher to join our team at a fantastic secondary special school in Totnes. As a SEMH Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic progress and emotional well-being of students with complex social, emotional and behavioural challenges.

The school provides a tailored support system to students with SEMH needs, and we are looking for a teacher who can deliver engaging lessons that cater to their individual needs. You will work closely with the students, staff, and parents to ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

We are looking for a teacher who is confident in dealing with challenging behaviour, has a passion for teaching and supporting students with SEMH needs, and has experience working with students with complex learning needs. About the school:

Our school is part of a service founded by experienced SEN teachers, with several independent schools and alternative provisions nationwide. The school provides a diverse curriculum that integrates both academic and vocational pathways, and boasts excellent facilities, including food technology labs, motor and construction workshops, and a sports hall.

About the role:

As a SEMH Teacher, your main responsibility will be to plan and deliver engaging lessons that support the academic progress of all students. You will work on a 1:1 basis with students, using your creativity to ensure that every student remains engaged in their learning. You will set clear, achievable goals to help students build on prior knowledge and make significant progress.

Given the students' complex learning needs, SEMH difficulties, and challenging behaviour, strong behaviour management skills, patience, and resilience are essential for this role.
