Assistant Caretaker - Part Time

Job Overview

This position entails a commitment of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of occasional out-of-hours responsibilities for alarm responses.

The Governing Body of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a dedicated, trustworthy, and compassionate individual to take on the role of a part-time Assistant Caretaker. This role is initially temporary, with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will primarily operate across two sites, ensuring the safety and maintenance of the facilities. Responsibilities include opening and closing the premises as the primary key holder, conducting alarm tests, performing general upkeep, and ensuring that walkways and entrances are free from snow, ice, and other obstructions throughout the year. Additional duties involve maintaining cleanliness in outdoor areas, conducting basic inspections of school vehicles, and liaising with external service providers regarding maintenance tasks.

Work Schedule

The 20 hours designated for this role will be distributed across Monday to Friday, following a split shift pattern before and after the school day. The candidate may also be required to respond to alarm activations outside of regular hours, with any extra hours compensated as overtime.
