About the Role

The Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Caretaker to join our team. As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, repairs, and minor construction projects
  • Ensure the proper functioning of school facilities, including heating, ventilation, and electrical systems
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events and activities
  • Provide support to teachers and staff with classroom and office maintenance
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset
  • Previous experience in a maintenance or custodial role; experience in a school setting an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects
