Job Title: HR Advisor - Maternity Cover

We are seeking a highly experienced HR Advisor to join our client, a leading construction and structural steel company, on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will be based in Barnsley and will work closely with the HR team to provide expert advice and support to managers and employees on all employee relations matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including complex issues and disciplinary hearings.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues in line with up-to-date employment law knowledge.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support in investigations and disciplinary hearings, providing advice and guidance where necessary.
  • Work together with fellow HR team members to develop and provide training sessions to line managers on key HR topics.
  • Monitor and analyse employee trends and metrics, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Manage recruitment campaigns, including sourcing of suitable candidates and coordination of interviews.
  • Ensure the preparation of new starter paperwork, including drafting of employment contracts and onboarding of new starters.
  • Manage company benefit schemes and support on key HR projects as required.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in employee relations, with a strong background in providing advice and guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to handle data confidentiality and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Highly accurate and strong attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and manage time and workload effectively.
