Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced support worker to provide personal care and companionship to our 15-year-old daughter, who has a spinal cord injury and requires assistance with daily living tasks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support with daily living tasks, including showering, dressing, and using the bathroom
  • Assist with mobility and transfers using a transfer board and hoist
  • Support our daughter to access her interests and engage in social activities
  • Help with meal preparation, shopping, and other daily tasks
  • Monitor and support our daughter's healthcare needs, including tracheostomy and gastrostomy care
  • Encourage and support our daughter's independence and confidence

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with spinal cord injuries and/or tracheostomy and gastrostomy care
  • Moving and Handling training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Kind, patient, and understanding approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Full, clean driving license and own car
  • Experience working with children of a similar age

Working Arrangements

We are looking for someone to work 6 hours per week, with flexible hours to be negotiated. The role may involve some weekends and evenings, and the successful candidate will need to be able to travel with our daughter to various locations.
