Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join our team at Adoption West. As a Social Worker - Family Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing advice and support to adoptive families, assessing their support needs, and working with children and families with complex needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to adoptive families on a range of issues, including child development, behavior, and emotional well-being.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of adoptive families' support needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing tailored plans to address these needs.
  • Work closely with children and families with complex needs, providing therapeutic support and interventions to promote positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, therapists, and educators, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to supporting adoptive families.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with adoptive families, providing regular updates and support to ensure their needs are met.

Requirements:

  • A Social Work Qualification (degree or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience of working as a Social Worker or having had a student social work placement with children and families.
  • An understanding of early life experiences, such as trauma or abuse, and the impact they can have on children and young people throughout their lives.
  • The ability to analyze complex information to make recommendations and informed decisions.
  • The ability to work both as part of a team, sharing knowledge and managing cases, and independently, using your own initiative to drive results.
  • Experience of managing your own caseload and working to deadlines.
